Monster the Loch 2021

What a day out on Loch Ness!

With bagpipes echoing across the Loch as the sun rose, over 300 participants set off to monster the 21 miles from Fort Augustus to the finish line at Dores.

Any human powered boat is invited to take on the challenge, and the line up saw a mix of rowers, kayakers, and some (very brave!) paddle boarders ready to tackle the Loch.

Loch Ness is infamous around the world not only for its resident monster, Nessie, but for the stunning scenery. We can't think of many better places to row a gruelling 21 miles even if the choppy weather meant some crews had to start bailing their boats out...

The atmosphere at the finish line is part of what makes the challenge worth it. Everyone came off the water with huge smiles and ready to receive their free competitors t-shirt and medal. The bar was very welcomed by some thirsty rowers and after a last minute drop out from the caterers, we even stepped in to try our hand at a make shift pizzeria. The results were mixed and it's safe to say we'll be sticking to what we know best next year - great kit.

Monster the Loch 2022 date will be announced soon so keep September free and we will see you on the start line!
